Who are we?
Support After Crime Services is a voluntary service to people affected by crime founded in January 2006 by Sally Hanlon. This service is managed through our regional office in Cork City and has received funding from the Commission for the Support of Victims of Crime on behalf of the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform.
Our Objectives are:
To benefit the community by maintaining a free and confidential service where the issues of people affected by crime can be addressed with a view to resolution. This service is easily accessible and available to all persons affected by crime.
What we do?
We provide emotional support, practical assistance and mediation when required.
How we do it?
By providing trained and skilled volunteers insured by our service to work with all persons affected by crime. Our staff and trained volunteers are available to assist persons affected by crime in your local area. Every person affected by crime has a right to our service and referrals can be made through An Garda Siochana, other voluntary organisations and self referrals. We deal with reported and non-reported crime. We deal with all categories of crime.
"Someone to talk to"
Support After Crime Services volunteers can offer you practical and emotional support in a confidential manner operating under clear guidelines and policies. Our volunteers receive support and supervision from mentors. If you would like an appointment to meet with our volunteers either in our Central Office or in your home please contact us.
UPDATE
In 2008, 811 persons affected by crime availed of our services.
